I strongly agree with what the professionals have to say, because it seems this ‘Cryptic Language’ is common in teenagers and younger children. While they are chatting on the Internet and using this language, the lingo is being followed to school as well. It seems it is used more commonly used in Web Chatting such as; MSN, Yahoo, and other online chats. Teenagers and younger children may not realize they are using it, but they are and it’s destructive to their English Language. These are some of the quantity of this ’Cryptic Language‘ such as;
BRB – Be Right Back
LOL – Laugh Out Loud
U – You
Yo, Hey Dude – Hello Mr./Mrs.
R U There – Hey, Are You There?
Along with this is another thing, emoticons, is a form of the pictographic characters used in Asian languages. These emoticons are used in Web Chats and Text Messaging. I understand why teachers and professionals find this shocking in the younger generations, because technology has come a long way. For teenagers and young children it’s their way of understanding each other to usually keeps parents unaware or because it's shorter to abbreviate . The usage of this ’Cryptic Language‘ is also common in Text Messaging as well. The teachers and professional make very strong accurate points such as they are concerned they are not learning anything from this and its not proper.

I think that students learn things in school, but at home on MSN or texting, they don't have to do things a certain way and its faster so they use the slang words.
love, tara. :)
