Netiquette – The computer language.

Computers now of days, are still a revolution. And instant messaging or “IM” is a widely popular phenomenon, but could it be impairing children’s and teenager’s English skills who use it too much? Thousands upon millions of teens use instant messaging, below is an example of two people using contractions and shortening words with what would look like.

Guy 1: Hey, sup dud?
Guy 2: NM man.
Guy 1: U go 2 that movi last nit?
Guy 2: The sk8er movi? Yea!
Guy 1: Sweet, awesum.

Researchers have found that nearly all teens interact like this on several IM programs, and there are quite a few who use this kind of communication in real life!

It is rather ridiculous, and some people actually use this kind of lingo in school, conversations, you name it! I believe it should be used mildly online and NEVER in real life, except for insiders with other friends, never in business. Everyday citizens like parents or teachers are always a bit surprised or very disappointed when they see it, and with good reason too. People who use this form of communication will defiantly not go far in his/her career. So you should resist using this a lot, in order to keep your English skills.

Some good points Namen!
I like how you put the conversation between the guys to show the way people use slang on the computers. I agree with your point that it is rather ridiculous that some people actually use this kind of lingo in school. People should have the common sense where, and when to use this type of lingo.

Good work Namen. The conversation between the guys is clearly a good example of slang. I think its lazy when people talk that way.If people put in the effort to speak correctly, it would totally pay off in the long run.
